Writing

This is a hub for all of my writing! It will comprise of reflections, poems, stories, and more. I highly recommend reading this with soundtracks that evoke emotion. (Will share suggestions soon)

Counterpart:

I try to remind myself; the reason pain hurts is because I know what joy feels like. The reason happiness feels so good in the moment is because I’m familiar with sadness. The reason the warmth of light is so magical, is because I’ve felt the cold brush of darkness.

The older I get, this fact of life has my utmost respect. We only recognize the weight of an emotion once we are intimately familiar with its counterpart. Otherwise, it lacks perspective, or can be taken for granted.

So whenever you are sad, mad, jaded, or anything of the sort. I hope you remember it doesn’t last forever. On the flip side of those negative emotions are prosperity, contentment, peace, and joy. Let yourself truly feel it all knowing it is only temporary.

And when you feel those positive emotions, cherish them for the gifts that they are. Maintain them. Fuel what brought them on. Because ultimately, when you descend into the darkness once more, you’ll be a little wiser and more prepared to handle the plunge with grace. Equipped with the eternal knowing that there can be no light without the shadow.
